BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® are liquid medicines derived from botulism toxin, used to reduce activity of facial muscles that cause wrinkles. These products are injected in tiny amounts, into muscles that contribute to wrinkles of the upper face – for instance, the frown lines between the eyebrows. The effect is temporary, lasting 3-4 months. Complications are very rare as these products have been used for decades with an excellent safety record.
The cost for botulism toxin treatments ranges, typically from $200 to $400, because the cost is determined by the number of sites the patient wishes to target. The vast majority of botulism toxin patients are happy with their results, often returning for repeat treatments.
